How to Write Review Text

REVIEW TEXT

The social function or the purpose of review text is to critique an art of work or event for a public audience.

The Generic Structure of review text :

1. Orientation

         Places the work in its general and particular context, often by comparing it with others of its kind or through analogue with a non-art object or event (background information of the text).
     2. Interpretative Recount
         Provides summary of an artwork (including the recount characters and plot).
     3. Evaluation 
         Provides an evaluation of the work and its performance or production (concluding statement, judgement, opinion or recommandation). It can consist of more than one.
     4. Evaluation Summation
         Provides the last opinion consisting the appraisal of the artworks being critized.
Works of art include :

• poetry/prose
  

A review is an evaluation of a publication. In addition to a critical statement, the review writer may give the work a rating to indicate its relative merit.
A review can be used by the readers to know about the art of work reviewed. On the other hand, a review can also be used by the presenter of the work art to know opinions of their targets.

Private Lives Sparkle

        Since the first production of Private Lives in 1930, with the theatre's two leading sophisticates Noel Coward and Gertrude Lawrence in the leads, the play has tended to be seen as a vehicle for starts.

        QUT Academy of the Arts production boasted no 'stars' but certainty fielded potential stars in a sparking performance that brought but just how fine a piece of craftmanship Coward's play is.

         With the shifting of attitudes to social values, it became clear that victor and sybil were potentially the more admirable of the couples, with standards better adjusted than the volatite and self-indulgent Elyot and Amanda.
